As a therapist, Dr. White helps clients create - and live - a life they love, using strategies that support mind, body and spirit.
You CAN have more joy and peace in your life. You CAN find relief and hope, and learn new ways of thinking, doing and being. You CAN feel more in control, and create a life you love.
Inspired by her own mental wellness journey of recovery and resilience with bipolar disorder and ADHD, Ruth is a Toronto-based registered social worker who provides culturally-aligned psychotherapy for residents of Ontario & Alberta. Dr. White takes a holistic approach (which means she supports mind, body and spirit) through the lens of each client’s unique social, economic, cultural, and faith context. The therapy approaches she uses include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, humanistic, positive psychology, narrative therapy, and mindfulness.
Feeling overwhelmed, stressed or burnt out? Together we can help you heal, and develop personalized, science-based tools that help you manage. And if you are experiencing compassion fatigue as a helping professional such as a social worker, nurse, doctor, etc. I specialize in helping you create boundaries that keep you doing what you love, while protecting your peace.
If you experience the challenges that come with AD(H)D or bipolar disorder, my decades-long lived experience of thriving with these diagnoses, gives me a unique perspective, deep empathy and understanding of these struggles, with practical insight into strategies that work.
If you struggle with issues related to identity, such as gender, sexuality, or race/ethnicity/culture, including inter-cultural & inter-generational issues, I provide a supportive space to work through trauma, build confidence and self-esteem, and learn communication skills that help you connect in healthy ways with family, friends and colleagues.
If you are a woman navigating challenging relationships, work-life stress, reproductive health issues, menopause, or caregiving responsibilities, I offer support to help you prioritize your needs and well being, while helping you maintain healthy relationships at home and at work.
If life as a professor or college student is just too hard, I can guide and support you through to tenure or graduation without surrendering your identity, your values or your wellbeing.
